STRIDE Fitness Pasadena, April Recap: Hikes, Workshops, and a Class with Beauts Movement Club

There's a version of fitness that begins and ends in the studio. Show up, sweat, leave. Repeat.

That has never been the version of fitness STRIDE Fitness Pasadena was built for.

Over the past few months, our community has spilled out into wellness workshops, weekend trails, and member-led private sessions. The kind of training and connection that doesn't fit on a class schedule. Here's a look at what's been happening, who's been showing up, and how to be part of the next one.

Wellness Workshop: Foam Rolling and Movements for Low Back Pain

Wellness Workshop: Foam Rolling and Movements for Low Back Pain

If you train hard, your low back has opinions about it.

Tight hip flexors, a desk job, a few too many sandbag lunges, and suddenly you're stretching at midnight wondering whether to skip tomorrow's class. Most members hit some version of this at some point, which is why we hosted a wellness workshop dedicated specifically to foam rolling techniques and corrective movements for low back pain.

What we covered:

  • How to identify the difference between actual back pain and referred tightness from the hips, glutes, and thoracic spine — most "back pain" isn't really coming from the back

  • Foam rolling sequences for the glutes, IT band, hip flexors, and thoracic spine that release the tissues around the back so the back itself can finally relax

  • Three corrective movements you can do in five minutes a day — most members felt a difference within the first session

  • When to push through and when to actually rest (this part is the one most people get wrong)

What people said:"I've had back pain on and off for two years. After the workshop I finally understood it wasn't actually a back issue — it was my hips. Game changer." — Sarah, Pasadena Member

Sunday Steps: Community Hikes on the Catalina Verdugo Trail

It was such an amazing hike for the STRIDE Fitness Pasadena community. The kind of morning where you hand-warm your coffee cup until the first quarter mile. Fifteen STRIDE Fitness Pasadena members are already there. Two dogs. Three pairs of leggings still tagged from a recent purchase. Someone brought extra granola bars and is handing them out. The conversation about which dog leads the hike is, briefly, the most important conversation in the world.

STRIDE Fitness Pasadena community

This is Sunday Steps

Our community hikes started as a casual "anyone want to hike Sunday?" message in the studio. They've quietly become one of the best things we do. The format is exactly what it sounds like: meet at the trailhead, hike together, get coffee after. No drills. No timed splits. No metrics on a screen. Just legs, conversation, and the kind of slow recovery the body actually needs after a hard training week.

This particular Sunday, we ran the Catalina Verdugo Trail — a 2.7-mile loop in the San Rafael Hills, about 560 feet of gradual elevation gain, 15 minutes from the studio. Family-friendly, dog-friendly, and from the upper ridge you can see Griffith Park to the south and the San Gabriels to the north on a clear morning. We had a clear morning. It is so great to see to feel the results of taking classes at STRIDE Fitness in the real world.

Beauts Movement Club x STRIDE Fitness Pasadena Private Event

If you don't already follow Beauts Movement Club on Instagram, you should.

They're a Pasadena-area community group built around one simple, generous idea. Made To Move. Free events, no barrier to entry, designed to get people moving their bodies in new and fun ways. No memberships, no pressure, no perfect form required, just an open invitation to show up and try something. It's the kind of grassroots community that's getting harder and harder to find, and they've quietly built a real one here.

Which made it especially fun when the entire Beauts crew came to STRIDE Fitness Pasadena to take a class together.

The studio was set up just for them. Full class, their group, their pace, their energy. For most of the Beauts community it was their first time on a Woodway treadmill and their first taste of the coached cardio + strength format that STRIDE Fitness is built around. There was a brief, beautiful moment of "wait, we're doing what?" when the coach explained the first interval. Then the music dropped, the belts started moving, and by minute ten you couldn't tell who was new.

The room had that specific buzz that only happens when a group of people who already trust each other walk into a workout together. People tried heavier dumbbells than they would have alone. The treadmill push paces got chased a little harder. There was real cheering, not the polite kind, the loud kind that happens between friends who've shown up for each other before. By the time the class wrapped, half the group was already asking when they could come back.

A few things stood out from the morning at STRIDE Fitness

First-timers found their pace fast. STRIDE Fitness scales for every level, but a friendly group makes scaling feel a lot less intimidating. Walkers, joggers, and runners were all on the same workout, just at their own paces.

And the post-class hang lasted longer than the class itself. Sweaty group photos, plans for the next thing, a dozen conversations spilling into the lobby. Exactly the kind of energy we built this studio for.

Why this matters beyond the day itself. The best movement communities are additive, not competitive. Beauts doesn't replace what STRIDE Fitness does, and STRIDE Fitness doesn't replace what Beauts does. People who love to move tend to love to move in lots of different ways. A free dance event one weekend, a coached HIIT class the next, a Sunday hike the weekend after that. The community grows when the rooms stack instead of compete.

If you're in the Pasadena area and looking for ways to move that don't require signing a contract or buying a kit, follow Beauts Movement Club for their next free event. And if you want to see what coached treadmill + strength HIIT feels like, solo or with your own crew, your first class at STRIDE Fitness Pasadena is on us.

Got a community group, friend crew, or run club that wants to take a class together? Reach out about a private class at STRIDE Fitness Pasadena. Our coaches will program it for your group, and we'll set up the studio just for you.

If you're looking for a community and a home in Pasadena, STRIDE Fitness is for you.

The hikes, the workshops, the classes that turn into hangouts in the lobby, the friends you didn't expect to make at 6 a.m. on a Tuesday. This is what we've been building since 2016. It's not a gym you check into and leave. It's a place that quietly becomes part of your week, and then part of your life.

We would love to have you in for a free class.

No card, no code, no commitment. Just book any class on the schedule and show up 15 minutes early. A coach will get you set up, walk you through the format, and 55 minutes later you'll know whether this is your people.
